You need River 0.4+ installed first. Triad sits on top as the window management layer. The installer writes a session entry so your display manager can see it.

Before switching your login session, run the nested Wayland smoke test from your current desktop. The guide also covers dependency installation, building from source, TTY testing, first-run validation, and shell profile setup.
